Transformation Part 1

Ok guys, so I started this blog about a month ago with the initial intention of tracking my 3-month body transformation project. I do realize that some of my posts have been slightly off topic, but well, I needed some filler so that I could make some progress. :-)

Today, I thought I’d share with you my current progress so you see I’m not f***ing around here. I’ve been working really hard and even though some days are frustrating, I believe I’m definitely going in the right direction. I do expect to eventually be posting further updates that will ‘wow’ the average blog reader. I say that because I’m a firm believer in self-fulfilling prophecy and so if I say it then it has to happen.

And so here you have the facts. I took some photos of myself on Day 1. That was the day I said, “Hey, who’s this fat ass in all my vacation pics? Oh wait. . . that’s me.” That is the very day I decided to start changing my daily habits. My goal is to maintain both a healthy diet and regular exercise. The doctors have been telling us this for ages, but it’s actually true. There is no magic pill. You either do it. . . or you don’t.

It’s definitely not easy for me, but I’m going to share these photos with you, my faithful followers.

This past weekend, I hit Day 40 of my current program. This means that for the last forty days I have been weight training 4-5 days a week and eating properly 95% of the time. I’ve focused on increasing my strength in all muscle groups and building a good foundation to kickstart my metabolism.

The weight training is the key people. Muscles reshape your body fast and allow you to burn off the fat faster. I’m sharing this with you not only for my own personal motivation, but in hopes that I may motivate some of you to put down that cheeseburger and do some push-ups instead.

Warning:  Photos may be of a graphic or violent nature.  Please shield the eyes of children.

Front View (Arms Up) Day 1

Ah this picture above is funny. How quickly things head south these days. :-) But, well, you see I’m already perking things up in the pic below.

Front View (Arms Up) Day 40

In the last week I have added cardio training into the mix. From now until the end of this project, I will also do cardio training for at least 30 minutes 4 days per week. The weight training takes me around 30-45 minutes per day so adding them together means I spend around an hour and a half on my body about 5 days per week (including getting my shoes and stuff on).

Side View Day 1

One of the first things I noticed was a big change in my posture. Once I started working on my back and abdominal muscles I was able to stand and sit properly without looking like a slug.

Side View Day 40

I’ve lost 4.3 cm of fat from around my upper arms. (Take that Farm Arms!!!) I’ve lost 5 cm of fat from around my waist, 2 cm from my chest and 4 cm from my back. In other areas, like my legs, I’ve gained some muscle mass while I lost the fat so the measurements have stayed about the same. Also, my pancake bottom is starting to look alive again!

Back View Day 1

Yeah, yeah. The Tramp Stamp. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Lesson learned.

Back View Day 40

My body fat percentage has dropped almost 4% overall. I started at around 32% body fat and I have a goal to drop that down below 20%. I’ve gained muscle everywhere and have really noticed that I’m a lot more firm than before. I feel much stronger too.

Flexed Arm Day 40

I still have 7 more weeks to go and I’m not losing momentum. In fact, I have lots of energy! Keeping track of my progress has been a real motivator. Ok, well the next posts will probably go back to random thoughts, but stay tuned for another update soon. I’m looking forward to it too. :-)
